Easy Sewing Tutorial: How to Make a Reusable Snack Bag

Picture this. You see cute, eco, reusable snack bags at the store and think, “$8 is such a reasonable price for getting rid of plastic bags.”

Wrong!

You can make your own reusable snack or sandwich bag for less than 50 cents each! Velcro strips are inexpensive at any fabric store and you can buy scraps of fabric in the discount bins for $1 – $2 bucks!

What you’ll need:

  • Fabric scraps
  • Fusible vinyl (JoAnn Fabrics or online)
  • Velcro

  • Fuse the vinyl to the right side of your inner fabric. Follow the instructions on the packaging and you can’t go wrong. Make sure the vinyl is slightly smaller than the fabric so you don’t accidentally fuse it to your ironing board.

Handmade Plush Owl

Handmade Plush Owl 1024x1024 Handmade Plush Owl

Using the handmade owl ornament tutorial I blogged about during the holiday season, I made another hooter for my girlfriend ! I cut this owl much larger than the ornament I made for Christmas. This one features 8″ sides.

  • $ Cost – Free! I used fabric scrap and buttons given to me by do-gooder Jim S.
  • Time – 45 minutes
  • Would I make it again? Yes. These little guys are fun and easy to make. It would be fun to experiment with more than one fabric scrap pattern and additional accessories.
